This morning I listened to a podcast that came out where I was the guest Sue Revell’s “Woman On A Mission Podcast.” We recorded it a few weeks or months ago.
It is both vulnerable and awkward and awesome to listen to myself and that’s what my episode is about today… in more ways than one.
So often we simply don’t listen to ourselves.
I know that we have been discouraged from listening to ourselves – is it really self-absorbent? We are trained to listen to the world and to somebody selling us shit and the patriarchy and to the control and power systems. What if we listened to ourselves? What if we listened to our truth instead of the incessant shoulds of the world outside of us.
There are parts of my internal family and just like any family member they want to be seen and heard and be significant and might need a little guidance after they’ve had permission to share their story.
Thoughts are always parts wanting my attention and often wanting attention in a way that doesn’t feel good and for years I shoved all that stuff down and maybe you have, too, and in a lot of ways.
Today when I listened to my episode on the “Woman On A Mission Podcast” with Sue Revell, I was like, that is some good shit. I was compassionate with myself instead of critical. I listened to my wisdom on someone else’s podcast and it helped me remember who I am not professionally as a being inside.
A couple of weeks ago listened to my procrastination episode with Dr. Christine Li and I was like, “Dang I need that.”
You don’t have to be on a podcast to listen to your own wisdom.
What I am learning in these themes is, Take some time to listen to yourself.
What if you slowed down and really heard yourself… really hear… really listen… to the parts of you that need to be heard.
If you are repulsed by the thought of listening to yourself, I see you, maybe just take a breath and be with that repulsed part.. as we say in my program “Hello, repulsed, I see you, I won’t leave you, I’m here for you.”
At the end of the day, I’m still gonna check-in and listen to me… and throughout the day… I’m building a relationship to listening to my whole being.. not only my words, my body, my intuition, my nudges.
Perhaps pause the podcast and sit in some silence.. no social media input.. be with yourself and see how that feels.. see what you notice.
I am so curious about what would be possible for you if you are able to meet all the layers of you. I love it. it’s the journey of a lifetime.
