Today the Joy Came Back -Shelter in Place Day 36

Today the Joy came back.

How you ask?

I felt the confusion
and then the joy came back.

I made the hard decisions to cancel celebrations and gatherings.
I wallowed in my turmoil for a while
and then the joy came back.

I held space for my clients and let them be afraid because I was afraid too. No judgement, only compassion
and then the joy came back.

I wrestled with the disruption
Making what I had work as best I could
and then the joy came back.

I loafed on the couch in front of the tv until there were no more shows to watch with absolutely no shame
and then the joy came back.

I let the depression press down until I remembered to feel it all
and then the joy came back.

The irritation and anger burned in my jaws and spewed out my mouth
and then the joy came back.

The boredom crawled through every cell in my body and I sat in the sun soaking up as much light as I could
and the joy came back.

I resisted and resisted and resisted
until I surrendered to the unknown

and then the joy came back.
