It seems unnatural to want to sit with discomfort…I’m not understanding this concept. When my body feels like its dying (like right now) of course I don’t want to feel the discomfort. I sure don’t want to sit with this fkn shit ??
Michelle Jeanette my experience when thinking about this is… when you’re uncomfortable for a time and keep doing whatever it is that’s uncomfortable it becomes easy over time. You can become “at ease” over something that once caused angst by embracing the discomfort and powering through. Things do become so much easier the more we do them and practice at them. I’ve done it time and time again on so many different things… you have too. It all started for me when I was 1 and I was learning to walk. ? Now I do it with ease and without thought.

Michelle Jeanette no problem. I loved this so much. Allison was on fire! I have fibromyalgia and I have become accustomed to the discomfort and pain over the last 17 years. I have my moments when it’s real bad, but for the most part I handle it with ease because I’m just used to it. It’s my new normal. Same goes for when you work out for a period of time. You start with 5lbs and before you know it you can do it with ease. Is that what you mean? Does that help at all?
Maybe I’m relating this to physical discomfort in my body, real physical pain… Trying to understand how that can become easy when the pain is acutely severe.
I understand in terms of doing things outside our comfort zone… That does make sense…

I’m realizing how much physical pain my body is experiencing. I have not been diagnosed with anything like fibro but I feel its the beginning of something like that and I’m actively making healing changes. I don’t want this physical pain to be my new normal.
I empathize so much for people with fibro, my mom had it and so many people I love suffer with it.
I hope what I’m experiencing is not that.
If there’s no other choice but living with it and making the best of life then I will… But I want to believe I have a choice in the matter ???
